Podcast notes....from Therapy 4.
The other dream I had was when I was about sixteen…
It starts with me standing in a tall white house. I need to get out..I turn and start running down the hallway looking into empty rooms… trying to find an exit. I eventually am outside the house but there is black barbwire surrounding it about two feet away from the wall. I run around and around the house trying to find an opening. Eventually I do and then I’m running down a dirt road…everything is dusty and faded…as I’m running I hear a telephone ringing.
I keep running and someone says… “Tammy its for you” I shout back
“Who is it?”
The other person says..
“It’s you”
So I turn and start running towards the phone which is in the middle of a field. It’s an American style phone booth.. glass. I pick up the receiver..
“Hello”
“Please, I’m still inside the house” I reply
“ok, hold on, I’m coming to get you” I say
I start running back towards the house, I’m really scared and determined, I get through the barb wire and I’m running around the house eventually I get in, and then I’m running from room to room slamming doors open, until I get to the final door ..
I push the door open with force. The room in front of me is white and full of light, it’s set up like a chapel with pue’s in lines and a huge cross on the back wall, and in the front row is me standing looking up at the cross…I clearly see the back of my head and then it starts to turn..i start to turn..to look back at myself, to turn around and face myself and then I wake up.

This is the first of a few interviews I did in 2017 for a series called One Song.
I asked the artist to pick their favourite song or any song that they felt they wanted to talk about. My mission was to not ask too many questions and to allow the artist to talk about their one song because I felt that maybe in the world of so much... just focusing on one song for a little longer would be inspiring and maybe make us feel more.
Charles chose this song "The Fare to Get There". When we recorded this interview I thought maybe this idea was too introspective but listening back to this I see there is a lot of beauty and nostalgia in this short conversation. I listened to this today and just loved listening to Charles and remembering the 90's and a time in music that has maybe past and maybe not.

ONE SONG (3) Tony Dekker from The Great Lake Swimmers. Moving Pictures Silent Films.
An interview I did in 2017 with Tony Dekker from The Great Lake Swimmers. Tony and I toured together with an artist called Barzin many years before in France in about 2000. He became my friend and I loved talking with him about this beautiful song.

ONE SONG (4) Mark Sasso. Elliott Brood.

They planted us on to these shores
There was silence
Urged us up and over for King and Country
For God's sake, don't hesitate boys
Make the distance before they see"
Then into their fire, we drove our bodies
Then came the sounds
Cries of pain emerged from within the clouds
Our feet, they fell apart
Our will soon followed, as did our hearts
With head in hands
On the remnants of their worn out maps
By the time
The tides had come
And where we came from
And where we laid our heads
And the wounds we had
And the ones we lost
